lil’East Coffee is a matchbox-sized specialty coffee and tea shop serving the El Sereno neighborhood and greater Los Angeles with love, pride, and intention.

We’re a small but mighty team focused on doing things with care — from the drinks we make to the experience we offer to every guest who walks through our door. Our shop was created out of a desire to bring quality and warmth into the everyday, and we’re inspired by the kind of craft that’s rooted in purpose and delivered with generosity.

We believe a well-run café starts with a strong, connected team — and we’re looking for a manager who’s excited to lead with heart, build systems that support growth, and foster a culture where both staff and customers feel seen and supported.

About the Role

We’re hiring a Coffee Shop Manager to oversee day-to-day operations, support and develop our team, and help us create a welcoming, consistent, and high-quality experience for everyone who walks through our doors.

This is a hands-on role for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, people-first environment and brings both a deep knowledge of specialty coffee and a love of genuine hospitality.

Job Requirements:

Leadership & Team Culture

Cultivate a positive, supportive, and high-performing team environment
Train, coach, and motivate baristas and kitchen staff
Foster clear communication and accountability
Lead by example with excellent customer service and a can-do attitude
Operations & Quality Control

Maintain daily café operations, including inventory, ordering, scheduling, and cleanliness
Uphold high standards for drink quality, consistency, and presentation
Oversee maintenance and cleanliness of equipment and workspace
Ensure compliance with health, safety, and sanitation standards
Customer Experience

Create a warm and welcoming environment for guests and staff alike
Resolve issues with professionalism and care
Represent the values and voice of lil’East both in-store and with the larger community
Cafe Oversight

Manage staff and food preparation
Track inventory, food costs, and coordinate with suppliers
Maintain food safety and sanitation standards
Collaborate on menu pricing, prep, and efficiency improvements
Oversee catering orders and fulfillment

What We’re Looking For

2+ years experience in specialty coffee or café management
Strong understanding of brewing techniques and general coffee knowledge
Experience managing inventory, schedules, and staff training
Great communicator with a collaborative, team-oriented mindset
Passion for hospitality, community, and quality craft
Ability to problem-solve, multitask, and stay cool under pressure
Hands-on, proactive leadership style
Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus, but not required
Experience with kitchen or food service management is also a plus
